Catalan Cowboy marks an exploratory phase in Guillermo’s early work. These images are individual excuses for voyeurism collected over his first two years living in Manhattan. There is no clear theme tying the work together beyond the thoughtlessness of shooting first, asking questions later. The target was any variance in texture, space, contrast, and form. The motivation was play through film and establishing discipline in practice. Anonymously sharing the results publicly served to hold the artist accountable.
